A 150-year success story built on experiences with dear visitors, which we are now reliably continuing in the sixth generation.

The years 1839 - 1945

Fritz, Frieda und Bodo Sellhorn, ca. 1849
1839 - Peter Christoph Friedrich Sellhorn is born on the Kröger farm in Nindorf, the 9th of 10 children.
1871 - am 27. Februar heiratet Peter Christoph Friedrich Sellhorn die Höfnerstocher Catharina Magdalene Dorothea Tödter aus Egestorf. Auf der Suche nach einem geeigneten Ort, um sich niederzulassen, stoßen sie auf die genossenschaftliche Schweineweide „Brinkbusch“. Ein Erbleihe-Kontrakt belegt die Pachtung des 6334 qm großen Areals. Auf diese Weide bauen sie sich ihr Haus mit Schankstube.
1871 - On February 27, Peter Christoph Friedrich Sellhorn marries Catharina Magdalene Dorothea Tödter from Egestorf. Sie bekommen 3 Kinder – Friedrich Wilhelm (genannte Fritz), Bodo und Alfred (der früh an Lungenentzündung starb). In den Jahren bis zum 2. Weltkrieg wurden diverse bauliche Veränderungen vorgenommen: Austausch des Reetdaches in ein Pfannendach, Einbau mehrerer Giebel, Ausbau des Daches.

1956 - heiratet Elfriede den Gastwirtssohn Horst Dierksen aus Dierkshausen. In dieser Ehe werden drei Kinder geboren: 1956 Kathrin 1958 Axel 1961 Jürgen - bewirtschaftet seit 1. Januar 1996 die Schlachterei Dierksen nebenan Elfriede und Horst Dierksen bewirtschaften das heutige Ringhotel Sellhorn bis Ende 1992. Die Umbenennung auf den Familiennamen "Hotel Sellhorn" findet statt.

1978 - Renovierung der „Veranda“, Anbau der Räume „Reiterstube“, „Kaminraum“, „Birkhahnstube“ und eines Außen-Grillplatzes.

1993 - Am 1. Januar übernimmt Axel Dierksen mit seiner Frau Ina Maria, geborene Lochbihler, aus Jungholz/Tirol das Unternehmen. Ihre Kinder Nele, geboren 1986, und Sven, geboren 1988 sind die 6. Generation

The years 1978 - 2006

1995 - Anbau „Marktplatz“ mit Buffetanlage im Innenhof mit Terrasse

1997 - Komplett neue Bade- und Saunalandschaft: Hallenbad mit Gegenstromanlage, Wildquell, Sprudelbank und Nackenschwall, Einzel-Frischwasserwhirlpool, Solarium, drei verschiedene Saunen, Erlebnisdusche, Ruheraum, Zugang zur großen Liegewiese.
1997 - "Eichenblick" extension with 9 rooms and 3 suites, 2 of which are disabled-friendly Completely new bathing and sauna area: indoor pool with counter-current system, wild spring, bubble bench and neck wave, single freshwater whirlpool, solarium, three different saunas, adventure shower, relaxation room, access to the large sunbathing lawn. 1999 - der Tagungsraum „Wiesengrund“ wird in den ehemaligen Sauna- und Kosmetikbereich eingebaut. Die Rezeption wird neu gestaltet und es entstehen großzügige Büros.

2005 - Renovation of the 4 oldest rooms on the second floor of the old main building. Renovation of the 18 rooms in the "Heidehaus".
2006 - das Haarstudio Kann eröffnet einen Friseursalon im Hotel. Das „Refugium“ öffnet seine Türen. Unsere neue Beauty- und Wellnessabteilung (ehemals Wellness-Oase) wird nun in Eigenregie betrieben und steht den Gästen an 7 Tagen in der Woche zur Verfügung.
2006 - Haarstudio Kann opens a hairdressing salon in the hotel. The "Refugium" opens its doors. Our new beauty and wellness department (formerly Wellness Oasis) is now run by the hotel itself and is available to guests 7 days a week.

The years 2008 - 2023

2008 - Umbau und Renovierung der „Alten Gaststube“ und des Getränkebuffets mit Integration eines Bartresens. Das Ringhotel Sellhorn erhält nun die DEHOGA-Klassifizierung 4*.

2009 - Conversion and renovation of 20 rooms in the old main building. After merging several single rooms, 16 new spacious double rooms (one of which is disabled-friendly) and junior suites are created.
2010 - die Küche bekommt einen komplett neuen Herdblock. Die Umstellung von Elektroplatten auf ein Induktionsfeld klappt reibungslos.

2011 - Renovierung Neuer und Alter Salon (Stühle, Teppich, Tapeten).

2017 - Demolition and new construction of Restaurant Veranda. Conference rooms are created on the new upper floor, the games room and rooms 14 to 17 become the conference lobby. The Birnbeek and Schnuckenstube rooms are created in the restaurant. A new coffee garden is created.

As you can see, our Sellhorn is your Sellhorn! A homely place – modern, cozy-chic and, above all, very familiar. Every generation has contributed to this so far: the “young” want something new, the “old” want to preserve tradition. Both are united by the desire to inspire with passion for our hotel.
